Our Office has been actively engaged in Maritime Law since its establishment, as it is located in Piraeus, a global shipping center.
We provide comprehensive extrajudicial and legal support in Courts to our clients, both individuals and Greek or foreign companies, shipyards, freight-cargo and ship insurers, shipbuilding, ship sale and purchase brokers, shipowners and charterers for ocean going vessels and P&I Clubs.
We also advise and undertake sales and registration of commercial ships, private yachts for leisure purposes, commercial yachts, commercial day travel ships operating in maritime tourist industry (Law 4256/2014) and on any legal issues that may arise.
Our Office mainly deals with:
Legal advice on the legal framework of the above activities under applicable tax laws (Law 27/1975).
Incorporation of foreign off shore shipowning companies, controlled by a majority of Greek or European interested individual investors, who elect to register oceangoing vessels under construction or second hand vessels in Greek flag under the protected legal framework as “as foreign capitals” under the provisions of Article 13 of the Legislative Decree 2687/53 relating to the “investments and protection of foreign capital” and the Laws 89/67 and 27/75 as amended and in force today.
Establishment of Greek shipowning companies (Law 959/1979) controlled by a majority of Greek or European interested individual investors for the registration of merchant ships in Greek flag under the “common provisions” of the Code of Private Maritime Law [Law 3816/1958 “KIND” in Greek initials).
Establishment of Greek shipowning companies (Law 3182/2003) controlled by a majority of Greek or European interested individual investors for the registration of ships and leisure yachts operating in the sector of maritime tourism (Law No. 4256/2014).
Establishment of Offices or Branches of foreign shipping companies in Greece (Law 378/1968 and Law 27/1975 article 25).
Shipbuilding and contracts, ship finance loan agreements, sale and purchase of second hand vessels.
Registration and reflagging of vessels.
Representing clients in negotiations and resolving disputes over chartering, marine insurance, disputes arising from the carriage of cargoes, collisions, salvage, ship and cargo general average adjustments in the event of a marine accident.
Arrest and restraining Court Orders and injunctions against vessels and other provisional Court Orders to freezing banks accounts for unpaid debts.
Advising on signing marine insurance contracts.
Providing legal advice on the carriage of goods by sea, Bills of Lading, on Charterparties of any kind (timecharters, voyage or bareboat charters and fitting out the vessels) and on transportation agreements for the sale and purchase of goods based on the International Incoterms clauses (CIF, FOB etc.).
Providing legal advice to our clients and representation of them in Courts of any level in matters of litigation related to maritime and transportation law (CMR).
Representation of our clients in Courts in claims due to maritime collisions and accidents.
